Immediate Dentures

Restore Your Smile with Same-Day Dentures

-Following tooth extraction surgery, we know you might have a number of questions and concerns, including:

  • How will I look?
  • What will my recovery look like?
  • Will I be able to eat and talk?

With the help of immediate dentures, many of these concerns can be alleviated. Also known as same-day dentures, these dentures are designed to be inserted immediately following tooth extraction surgery. Then, once your dental tissues have sufficiently healed, patients can opt for a more permanent denture solution.

Approximately one to six weeks after tooth extractions, your extraction sites will be healed enough to allow for a temporary liner known as a tissue conditioner to be placed. Six months to one year after extraction surgery, a permanent reline can be done. Please note this service is not included in the cost of your dentures.

After tooth extraction surgery, some discomfort and swelling are to be expected. However, if you follow these tips, along with any additional advice from your dentist and denturist, your recovery can be much more comfortable.

Follow these simple tips to help your tooth extraction surgery recovery go smoothly:

  • 24 hours after surgery, remove and clean your same-day dentures with a denture clinic.
  • Next, rinse your mouth with warm saltwater. This promotes the healing process.
  • Focus on eating high-calorie soft foods that are easy to chew.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I need to keep my immediate dentures in for the first 24 hours?

Following tooth extraction surgery, your dentist and denturist will advise you to keep your immediate dentures in for the first 24 hours. This is because if they are taken out too soon, you risk your gums swelling too much to be able to return them to your mouth. Additionally, they can help keep swelling down while they’re in and prevent additional discomfort.

Should I get immediate dentures?

After tooth extraction surgery, it will take time for your tissues to heal before you can get permanent dentures. Understandably, over these months, patients don’t want to be without teeth! With the help of same-day dentures, you don’t have to go a day without your smile. They aren’t right for every patient, but during your free consultation at Berlanga Dentures, you can find out if they’re right for you.
